What is Hope for Horses?

Hope for Horses (HH) was formed to rescue and rehabilitate neglected/abused horses in Marion County, Arkansas, and surrounding areas.

In order to accomplish its charter, HH will raise funds through grants and private donations through a variety of resources. Funds raised will go directly to animal care, operating expenses and, when possible, to provide limited support to owners who are experiencing short term financial difficulties. As an all volunteer organization, there are no paid salaries.

Hope for Horses is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all female owned and operated group which endeavors to have highly dedicated volunteers at all levels.

In The Beginning...

Hope for Horses (HH) was founded by a group of local women who were disturbed by the numerous horses in our county who were living desperate lives of neglect. Prior to organizing, the founders were individually aiding needy horses.

On September 6, 2014, the founders were able to rescue a horse that had been starving for over two years. “General” as he came to be called, was at this point 300 pounds underweight, and was alive only through his will to survive. We were finally able to convince the owner to surrender him to us, in the hopes we could save him. (read an update on "General" by clicking HERE.)

That is the day we consider the birth of HH. Compassion for these animals continues to drive our organization. Through HH we are able to aid law enforcement to address and combat the unacceptable, and illegal, conditions so many animals endure.

Hope for Horses is recognized by the State of Arkansas and the IRS as a tax-exempt, non-profit organization, Tax ID 47-1959657.

How You Can Help

Currently, we have approved five foster care ranches that have successfully met our Foster Care Guidelines. We continue to look for additional families who would be willing to foster one or more neglected horses. As we approve more sites, we will be able to take care of more of the many neglected horses throughout the area. For more information about fostering, please see "Fostering An Equine" under the HOW YOU CAN HELP tab at the top of the page.

Volunteers for the many types of horse care, barn work, etc., or foster care facilities are always needed. To find out more information about these opportunities, please see "Be A Volunteer" under the HOW YOU CAN HELP tab at the top of the page. You can also contact Jo Ann Joseph at 513-827-7776.
